any pokemon fans out there familiar with James Turner? he's a graphic artist that works for game freak and is the first westerner to make some official pokemon designs, basically he made golett, golurk, vullaby, and the 3 ice cream pokemon.

after learning about that, I've felt kinda inspired to try out a few ideas myself, I never really got into the whole fakemon thing but I decided to perhaps give it a shot.

really, my problem with most fakemon that I have seen is that they seem more like wish fulfillment than anything. basically the artist picks an animal they love and slap weird elements and coloring on it to make it "pokemon" like. now I will admit that there are a few entries within each generation (moreso in the first and second) that did this to an extent, pokemon like skuntank, raticate, walrein, and such don't have dynamic concepts that pokemon like floatzel, manetric, and scrafty have, but in the least, they don't look like real life animals with paint jobs.

Another thing is that most fakemon out there don't seem to try to blend any concepts together, now not all pokemon do this as most pokemon from the fighting and ghost types center around one specific theme, fighting types embodying some form of martial arts, and ghost types embodying each phantasmic concept we know.

at least that's just how I feel, but I'm starting to get ranty now
----------------------------------------

This one was a rather interesting idea, it's a poison/psychic type family that is basically a kleptomaniac Serpent (a tsuchinoko to be exact) that takes shelter within a stoage unit that is actually hammer space thanks to the Pokemon's psychic powers.

the first stage is a tsuchinoko that is inside a pouch, it stores valuable objects in the pouch it comes across, and if it senses danger, it hides inside the bag to look like a plain bag lying around (due to this being very conspicuous, it doesn't always work well). it sprays toxic fumes at anything that opens the bag.

the second stage is a larger serpent like creature inhabiting a pot that levitates with the pokemon's physic powers. the pot cannot be destroyed as fractures are meshed back into place with the pokemon's psychic powers. when threghtened, it emits a toxic fog that is controlled with telekinesis to scare off any threats.

it's design is meant to allude to snake charming.

the last stage was actually the initial design, with the other two made to coincide with it. it's suppose to be a mimic, the typical RPG monster that takes the form of a chest that can potentially have goodies in it. the pokemon is a serpent like creature that is in an expanding chest, it has the ability to close up and look like a normal chest with it's mouth being the keyhole. any attempt at trying to pick open the chest will result in your keys or tools being devoured.

it's less of a kleptomaniac than it's preceeding stages, and actually fulfills a more noble purpose by acting a a storage system for it's owner or trainer, however it does collect anything that is considered valuable, as a result it can have unorthodox things in it's possession.

mechanic wise, this line would be a tanky status inducer, with high speed and defenses but low offenses.

Edit: something I forgot to add, this is more or less a rough draft of the idea, I still want to finalize the last stage.
